Hugh Taylor Birch State Park is a gorgeous oasis filled with adventure, fun, and delicious food! It’s become a destination all to itself. In 1893, a successful businessman from Chicago came to Florida in search of paradise. Hugh Taylor Birch found it in 3.5 miles of beachfront property. Anxious to keep the gorgeous land away from developers, Birch donated the land to the state of Florida when he died in 1941. Here’s everything you need to know to make the most of your time at Hugh Taylor Birch State Park!

Kayaking, Canoeing, and Jet Skiing
There is no better place to try your hand at kayaking or canoeing than this state park! Between rentals and guided tours, you can have a blast paddling along. For a fun and unique experience, check out the full moon kayaking tour. It only happens one night a month, so be sure to schedule around this nighttime adventure! Can’t work around the moon? Every Friday, there is a sunset kayaking tour available, too. You can rent canoes or kayaks for either two hours or a half day here.
Pedaling, Paddling, and Relaxing
Not so much into kayaks or canoeing, but still want to get on the water? Hugh Taylor Birch State Park also rents pedal boats and paddleboards! If laying on the beach or hanging out on a lounge chair is your idea of experiencing a gorgeous ocean view, you can still enjoy a fabulous day here, too. Bring your swimsuit, sunscreen, towel, and a good book! This state park has everything else you need.
Delicious Food
There’s nothing like some salty sea air to bring out your appetite! Check out Park and Ocean, the delicious restaurant at Hugh Taylor Birch State Park! Featuring oceanfront views and their own on-site brewery, Park and Ocean is a great place to hang out, grab a pint, and something incredible to eat. We recommend their mahi-mahi tacos or the brisket grilled cheese!
