It’s got everything you need to enjoy a memorable day! Here are just a few of our favorite things to do there.
1. See the Underwater Beauty of the Florida Coast
John U. Lloyd Beach State Park features amazing reefs that are perfect for snorkeling! It’s also one of the easiest places to scuba dive and snorkel in the area. You can see lobster, tropical fish, sea turtles, and even sharks in this incredible underwater reef just a hundred feet off the shoreline.
2. Try Surf Fishing
From the edge of a 900-foot jetty in Fort Lauderdale, you’ll discover an amazing spot for surf fishing! Try your luck as you cast into the waves. There’s even a fish-cleaning station available so you can feast on your fresh catches afterward! Be sure to check all the regulations before you head out, as there are several rules about the size and number of the fish you catch. Also, it’s a good idea to check and see if you need to have a Florida fishing license on hand as well.
3. Go Kayaking or Canoeing
At John U. Lloyd Beach State Park, there’s a gorgeous tree-lined waterway where you can rent canoes or kayaks. Gently paddle along and enjoy the amazing views! There’s plenty of wildlife to spot, so bring your camera and a quiet voice. It’s one of our favorite ways to relax on a warm spring day.
4. Enjoy a Bite to Eat
This state park is home to BG Whiskey Creek Hideout, a great place for a delicious meal or frothy beer. With burgers, fries, beer, and more, it’s a fantastic spot for a casual lunch or dinner while you enjoy gorgeous ocean views.
5. Relax on the Beach
Need some downtime? This is the perfect place to bring a couple of chairs, a few towels, maybe an umbrella, and simply unwind. There’s nothing finer than enjoying the sound of the waves and the feeling of warm sunshine on your skin. No room to haul around beach chairs? Head over to BG Whiskey Creek Hideout and rent a couple! If you’re visiting with family, you can take the kids shell hunting along the three-mile beach or just lay back with a good novel.
