1. Check the Calendar Before You Go
As a part of wildlife management, hunting is allowed during certain times of year in the Florida Everglades WMA and Francis S. Taylor Wildlife Management Area. Be sure to check the season before you head out! The Florida Everglades Wildlife Management Area also uses prescribed burns to prevent uncontrollable wildfires, so watch for news regarding those as well.
2. Explore by Foot, Bike or Boat
There’s always something new to see in the Florida Everglades! No matter which way you choose to explore them, we guarantee you’ll have a fantastic adventure. Pack the fishing pole and spend some time relaxing along one of the coastlines, or bring binoculars for a hike across the levees. You’re bound to see some beautiful, endangered birds! Another way to explore is to rent a vessel and paddle or motor through over 200 miles of canals. If you’re up for an adventure, try out an Everglades airboat tour. This is a fun and unique way to see the backcountry and get some incredible photos!
3. Experience Sawgrass Recreation Park
Sawgrass Recreation Park is a part of the Everglades that is known for its abundant wildlife! Take an airboat ride and see some of the most beautiful species native to Florida like alligators, manatees, and more. You might even catch a glimpse of something bigger like a bobcat or Florida panther!
4. Bring Plenty of Water and Sunscreen
Plenty of sun means you’ll need to bring a supply of water and sunscreen during your journey through this expansive outdoor oasis.
