About the Museum

Also known as the Nova Southeastern University Art Museum, the Museum of Art in Fort Lauderdale is situated in the heart of the “South Florida Art Coast.” It’s located along the city’s picturesque Riverwalk promenade, so it’s close to all of the best shops, galleries, bars, and waterfront restaurants in Fort Lauderdale. It was founded in 1958, renovated in 1986, and features distinctive Modernist architecture designed by the renowned Edward Larrabee Barnes. The 83,000 square foot space features 25,000 square feet of exhibition space, a 256-seat auditorium, a music store, and a cafe.

What to Expect During a Visit

The NSU Art Museum’s goal is to challenger viewers’ perceptions of the world around them, and that’s exactly what it does! The permanent collection at the museum boasts over 6,000 works, including the country’s largest collection of 19th- and 20th-century works by realist painter William Glackens. You’ll also find an extensive collection of post-World War II and avant-garde works by artists from Copenhagen, Brussels, and Amsterdam. There are also plenty of Latin American works to be seen here! Admission Information

Admission to the Museum of Art in Fort Lauderdale costs $12 for adults, $8 for seniors and military personnel, $5 for students, and free for members and children 12 and under. Plan to visit any time between Tuesday and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. On Sundays, the museum is open between 12 and 5 p.m.
