Christmas in Fort Lauderdale: Everything You Need to Know
Make sure to check the event websites for their coronavirus updates.
Christmas on Las Olas
Christmas on Las Olas is a true celebration of South Florida’s holiday season. Beginning in late November each year, this free, festive event is open to the public. The festival takes place between S.E. 6th Avenue and S.E. 11th Avenue. Guests and locals of Fort Lauderdale still cherish this event after 50 years of festivities!
The best part about this beloved event is its inclusive nature. In addition to the twinkling Christmas lights decorating the branches of the Boulevard’s tropical trees, there will be a brightly lit menorah centerpiece on display to celebrate Hanukkah. Fort Lauderdale is a very welcoming city, so all are invited to enjoy this upbeat festival!
Seminole Hard Rock Winterfest Boat Parade
It’s not often you get to see decked out boats with dazzling Christmas lights sail along the shoreline. The Seminole Hard Rock Winterfest Boat Parade is a must when visiting Fort Lauderdale during the holidays. This December 2020 event will be televised due to coronavirus concerns.
The city of Fort Lauderdale is looking forward to its 2021 event, where you can hopefully view the parade from the Grandstand Viewing Area, just north of Sunset Boulevard.
Victorian Christmas at the Stranahan House
One way to capture Fort Lauderdale’s historic charm is by experiencing a Victorian Christmas at the Stranahan House Museum. Docents in period costumes will teach you all about what makes the landmark home special. You can expect to enjoy wonderful live music as you take a tour of the home, decked out in sparkling Christmas lights.
Winter Wonderland in Plantation
Another historic holiday experience is Winter Wonderland in Plantation Historical Museum. The event displays beautifully decorated trees, a train village, and seasonal displays for Kwanzaa and Hanukkah. It’s a memorable holiday treat for everyone!
